We’re happy to present the Canadian artist Brad Woodfin for a second time with his new solo show DEAR YOU.
“Dear You, A letter addressed to memories, ghosts, friends, strangers, and loves. A pictorial continuation of my love for small, saintly paintings that have the ability to write back and reach into tiny corners of our brains and hearts.”
Brad Woodfin was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts in 1970. He moved to Olympia, Washington in 1991 to study printmaking and painting at The Evergreen State College. His work has been featured in solo shows in New York, Vancouver, Calgary, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Melbourne, as well as group shows and art fairs in Hamburg, London, Miami, New York and Melbourne. Brad Woodfin lives and works in Montreal.
His portraits of birds and animals, rendered carefully on a rich dark background, evoke the portraits from the Dutch Golden Age. The posture of his subjects and his use of light combine to bestow each species with an almost religious reverence.
